Reason for Participating in NOMAN: "This is more than a race;
it is a call to action. In Europe, boys today have the same lifetime
cancer risk caused by HPV as girls. This is a ubiquitous public
health issue, but also solvable – there are two vaccines that protect
against the deadliest HPV types, yet only half the population has
vaccine access.
I’m impatient, eager, and desperate to eradicate this devastating
disease. I’m participating in NOMAN because I don’t want a single
person in the world to go through what I went through:
watching the most important, beautiful person in my life pass away
from a preventable cancer… painfully, and prematurely."
TRISTAN ALMADA
TRISTAN ALMADA
Tristan founded The HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation with his two sisters
Justine and Camille after losing his mother Paulette to stage IV anal cancer,
caused by HPV, in 2010. Paulette passed her sincere positivity (she was
especially sublime in the darkest of moments) on to Tristan, causing him to
believe that nothing is impossible when tackled with the right attitude (even
eradicating HPV-related cancer!).
After starting as analyst at Moore Capital, strategist and portfolio
management roles at Clive Capital, Tristan co-founded Taurosso Capital, a
commodity derivatives hedge fund, where he works today. From New York,
New York, Tristan is passionate about ice hockey and still plays in London,
UK, where he lives.
